Tehnos: a production information system that grew up in machine production
Tehnos from Žalec has been developing and building agricultural machinery since 1989, and is an OEM supplier of assemblies and products for other industries.
Etrust and Tehnos have been working together for 20 years. We developed Etrust PIS in Tehnos's machine production and it grew on their processes: from the order in Odoo and the B2B portal, through BOMs, release, planning, the paint shop and subcontracting, to assembly, shipping, and pre- and post-calculation of machines, semi-finished parts and projects.

Challenge
What machine production has to master
- Machines in many versions with additional equipment the customer chooses when ordering.
- Besides machines, spare parts and OEM products for other industries on the same workstations.
- Its own paint shop with colours to order, and part of the operations at subcontractors.
- Orders come from the Odoo ERP and from the B2B portal for the sales network.
- Priorities change every day, and the bottlenecks are in welding and assembly.
Solution
How Tehnos works with Etrust PIS
- Orders from Odoo and the B2B portal
The blanket order from Odoo is split into machine and spare part orders, and the sales network orders a machine with additional equipment through the B2B portal. Nobody retypes orders.
- BOMs and routings with versions
Multi-level BOMs and routings with versions are the basis for release. Engineering BOMs are imported from spreadsheets.
- Automatic production release
The machine order automatically releases the whole tree of work orders for assemblies and parts; only a small share of work orders is still created by hand.
- Sales plan, MRP and order schedule
The sales plan from order history forecasts demand for machines with equipment, MRP calculates material and production by priority, and every order gets its day on the order schedule for the year ahead.
- Bottleneck scheduling
Scheduling places operations onto workstations within the shifts of the work calendar and shows which order is late and which workstation is holding it up, for example welding or an assembly line.
- Paint shop and subcontracting
Painting runs through separate painting production orders with the colour from the order, and subcontractor orders are created from work order operations.
- MES on the shop floor
Workers start and finish operations on control centers (Start & Stop), and time and consumption are captured without paper.
- Shipping and serial numbers
Picking and shipping are linked to the order, and every machine has a serial number. A machine already built can be reassigned to another order by serial number.
- Pre- and post-calculation
Pre-calculation from the routing calculates the own cost of a machine, semi-finished part, project or other item before you make it. Post-calculation from actual times and consumption on the shop floor then shows what it really cost, not an estimate.
“We have been working with Etrust for twenty years. We built Etrust PIS together, on our machines and our processes, so we don't adapt it to production; it works the way we work.”
Do you also build machines to order? We show you how Etrust PIS would work with your BOMs and orders: 30 to 45 minutes, no commitment.
