Laser cutting: planning by cutting sheet

Many short orders to customer drawings, parts in small quantities and deadlines in days. Etrust PIS plans by cutting sheet: positions of different customers on the same cutting sheet, one Start & Stop for the whole cutting sheet.

Etrust PIS is software for sheet metal laser cutting that plans by cutting sheet. Put cutting sheets together in the system or import them from Lantek nesting, and time and material are split across the parts.

Challenges

Challenges you know

  • Positions are retyped into the cutting program by hand
  • Cutting sheets live in their own world, production in its own
  • Only the operator at the laser knows which parts are already cut
  • Sheet metal remnants pile up without anyone knowing what is in stock
  • The price of a part is an estimate, because the time and material of the cutting sheet are not split

Solution

How Etrust PIS helps

  • Own cutting sheets, even without Lantek

Put cutting sheets together right in Etrust PIS: combine positions of different customers by material and thickness, and a work order is created from the cutting sheet for each part.

  • Cutting sheets from Lantek nesting

If you use Lantek, you send order positions to it, and cutting sheets with PDFs and part images come back automatically. We set up the integration during implementation.

  • One Start & Stop for the whole cutting sheet

In the control center you start and finish the whole cutting sheet, and the time and quantities are split across the parts' work orders.

  • Sheet consumption and remnants

At the end of the cutting sheet the material is written off in kg automatically, and the remnant returns to the remnant store for reuse.

  • Time and material per part

Cutting time and the weight of the cutting sheet are split across the parts, so post-calculation shows the real cost of each part.

  • Repeat orders

Save serial cutting sheets and assemblies, and on a repeat order you only launch them.

  • Bending, finishing and subcontracting

Cutting is followed by bending, finishing and subcontracting for painting or galvanizing, all on the same work order.
