Sico: cutting sheets from Lantek, orders from Calculus, production in Etrust PIS
Sico from Žalec has offered laser cutting and sheet metal forming since 1993 and is among the largest providers of these services in Slovenia.
At Sico, Etrust PIS connects two systems that every larger sheet metal shop has: Lantek nesting and the Calculus ERP. Orders come from Calculus, cutting sheets from Lantek, and Etrust PIS runs everything in between: cutting sheet release, cutting, sheet remnants, bending, welding, machining, subcontracting and the paint shop.

Challenge
What laser cutting for customers has to master
- Many short orders to customer drawings, often with deadlines in a few days.
- Parts from different orders are nested on the same cutting sheet, and time and material must be assigned to the right order.
- Sheet remnants must be visible in stock and used, not forgotten in a corner of the hall.
- Cutting is followed by bending, welding, machining, subcontracting and painting.
- Orders and invoices are in the Calculus ERP, cutting sheets in Lantek, and there must be no retyping between them.
Solution
How Sico works with Etrust PIS
- Integration with the Calculus ERP
Customer orders arrive in Etrust PIS from the Calculus ERP automatically, so nobody in production retypes them.
- Grouping of service orders
Many short service orders are grouped into a common release, so parts go to cutting together rather than order by order.
- Nesting in Lantek
Parts for cutting go to Lantek, which nests them on cutting sheets. The cutting sheets with parts come back to Etrust PIS and are the basis for release.
- The cutting sheet as the unit of work
On the laser, one Start & Stop starts and finishes a whole cutting sheet, and time and material are split across the parts and orders on it.
- Sheet remnants
What is left of the cutting sheet returns to stock as a remnant, which is visible and used on the next cutting sheets.
- Bending, welding and machining
Cutting is followed by bending, welding, machining and assembly operations on the same work order.
- Subcontracting, painting and blasting
Subcontractor orders are created from work order operations, and painting and blasting are part of the same flow.
- MES and inspection
Workers capture work on all workstations on control centers, and inspection is recorded on the work order.
“We do cutting sheets in Lantek, and orders and invoices in Calculus. Etrust PIS connects them, so we have everything in between, from cutting to the paint shop, in one system and retype nothing.”
